I am having a tech dilemma. Anyone on lollipop 5.1 yet? Would you root your sweet over-powered Droid Turbo for it, or wait until mid month June for the official release?
M3 aggressive launch for your time.

3 weeks? Definitely wait.

I’m so pissed at Verizon. They said this thing would be getting 5.0 back in late 2014/early 2015 which was one of the main reasons I bought this phone. Also, how is your battery lasting on yours?

Haha I’m still on Kitkat 4.4.2.

Not an Android guy, but my motto has always been, “Woe to the early adopters.” Wait a while, and let other people have all the problems.

There is no way of getting 5.1 on the DT yet. Even with root. In order to flash a new image to your phone, there needs to be an image to base it off of, and since there is no DT 5.1 image yet then you are still stuck to customized Kitkat images.

For three weeks I wouldn’t root it. But I can say that I do enjoy 5.1 a lot on my Nexus6. I had to trick the phone into accepting it, but it worked!

I’d root and go early. I did. I’m very happy with L.

I too have a turbo and am going to wait for the official.
I had an Chinese ipad air knockoff that I loaded Cyanogen mod on and it ruined everything because it wasn’t a model specific rom.

Wait for the official OTA, THEN root. I’m in the same boat, waiting for 5.1 on my first-gen Moto X

I’m a heavy user (FB, Chrome, etc all day) and I’m getting a solid full day charge. I imagine that if i used it like most folks (i.e., have a job i don’t play on it during but im a stay-at-home dad) I’d get the advertised 48 hrs. Still charges super quick.

I didn’t even know we were supposed to be getting an OTA update. Cool. Any new features coming?

I’m still on JB 4.3. BEAT THAT.

Wait. Unless the ROM you’re thinking of is an official stable CyanogenMod build or something.

I have to charge by phone mid day. I might be getting 12 Hours in normal (heavy) use.

The phone I had before this (abt a year ago) was still on Gingerbread. Samsung is notorious for completely cutting off updates for anything but its current models.

My last phone was too a Samsung phone on Gingerbread, but luckily some people kept it alive with Jelly Bean, KitKat, and even Lollipop ROMs.

I’m on 5.1 with a Nexus 5.
Phone went stupid and ate up battery for the first few weeks, and I have some trouble sending and receiving picture messages with Iphones using the native Messaging.
Other than that, no issues.

Yeah, by “full day” I’m talking from, say 8:00am-11pm.
For what it’s worth though, my old phone (Note II) would be deadish around 3:00pm
I really only bought it for the quick charging though. I hate having things to do but being tethered to an outlet for 3 hours

I unplugged my phone at 8am and I’m already down 25% in 90min. The quick charging is fantastic though.

I just got my invite for Google Fi, so I will be dual wielding my Turbo and a Nexus6 in a few days

I stopped using native messaging when I got my warrantry replacement. Any time I have a hardware issue with my phone, it goes straight back to manufacturer for a warranty replacement, now.

I can get more than two days out of my battery, even if I playa few rounds of RR3. constantly on bluetooth and AC wifi.

Do you have a Droid Turbo or a Moto Turbo/Moto Maxx. They are different, as much as you would think otherwise. You need an unlocked bootloader to use that, something you can’t do (hopefully as of now) with the Droid Turbo.

Hmmm I’ve been on mine nearly nonstop today, so you may have an issue. Call verizon and get a new one

It was a Sprint phone too, and Sprint makes it difficult to root them. There’s a different procedure and some models will just brick themselves.

I’m on 5.1.1 and I love it., but I have a Nexus device so I get all the updates first. Awww yisss.

I supposed to be getting the current gen Nexus for my Project Fi invite. It is crazy to think that I was one of the early adopters of the Google e-cosystem
